That report about the drop in Informix users/installations was false. The reporter had confused the number of Informix installations with the number of members of the International Informix Users Group (IIUG) and even that number was inaccurate. The number of Informix installations has steadily increased since the IBM takeover in 2001.

There are actually over 100,000 customers uses Informix and millions of installations.
